  2. I was surprised to learn that climate change isn't the biggest threat to manatees, instead its boating. Glad to know there are steps we can take to help with the survival of this species.

  3. The manatee is a good example of how it is difficult to obtain population estimates for some species, as we discussed in class. Perhaps biologists use an aerial sampling method to estimate manatee populations.

  4. First off, didn't know manatees were covered in algae, kinda funny. I also found it interesting that climate change is actually helpful to the manatee. Makes sense, since as you stated, they require warm temperatures.

  5. I didn't realize the manatee was an endangered species so I enjoyed reading about the species. It's interesting that they can live in both salt and fresh water. It's sad that the main threat to this species is not natural, but rather due to human recreation.
